Acquisition expands use of voice-directed work in healthcare industry

PITTSBURGH, March 30, 2006 — Vocollect, the world leader in voice-directed work, today announced an agreement to acquire Adherence Technologies Corporation, a leader in voice-activated documentation and communication systems for nursing homes. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Located in Dulles, Va., Adherence Technologies offers products that help care givers improve the accuracy, efficiency and quality of care provided to nursing home residents. The company’s signature product, AccuNurse®, provides nursing staff members with lightweight headsets that enable them to receive patient care instructions, deliver care accurately, document care as it takes place, and communicate with other staff more quickly in response to residents’ needs.

Adherence Technologies’ management team will join the Vocollect organization based in Pittsburgh, Pa., and the combined company will continue to maintain a presence in Dulles, Va. The new unit will be headed by Roger Byford, co-founder of Vocollect, Inc.
